Jon Barad, CI/CT NIC is the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Services Supervisor at the Workforce and Technology Center. He has been providing leadership and technical assistance in the planning and implementation of programs and services for individuals who are Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing since August, 2015.
Jon was a sign language interpreter from 1996 to 2016. In that decade, he provided legal, medical, mental health, vocational, corporate, and video relay interpreting services and earned three national certifications. For four years, he ran a pop-up interpreting agency that was honored to give many thousands of quality hours to the community.
He has worked with talented, hard-working professionals in Maryland’s courtrooms, hospitals, call centers, businesses, schools, and now is part of a dedicated team at one of only eight Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centers in the nation. He seeks out and tries to promote a network of caring people dedicated to creating environments of inclusion and opportunity.
